Stopping or causing to stop making progress. This is the sole definition of stalling. If where you want to be with your health isn’t moving forward, you’re stalling.
This forced me to think of all the areas in my life where I have stalled to do the hard, important work of fitness on myself.
The stall list
- If you need to lose weight and instead watch TV, you are stalling.
- If you spend two hours having coffee and talk about fitness, you’re probably stalling.
- If you watch YouTube about health you already know, you’re stalling.
- If you’re “just checking” social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), you are stalling.
- If you’re yet to write down your fitness goals, you’re stalling.
- If you’re making unhealthy choices rather than healthy, you’re stalling.
- If you don’t dedicate your time to exercise, you’re stalling.
- If you’re yet to make a meal plan, you’re stalling.
- If you don’t allow yourself adequate sleep, you are stalling.
- If you’re not tracking your progress, you’re stalling.
- If you’re yet to eat nutritious breakfast, you’re stalling.
- If you don’t drink enough water, you’re stalling.
- If you’re “waiting til tomorrow” or saying “I’m too busy,” admit it: these are stall tactics.
- If you’ve fallen in your old habits and can’t get traction you need, you are stalling.
- If you’re making your typical excuses, you know you’re stalling.
- If you don’t have self-love for yourself, you’re stalling.
- If you’re in it for something else rather than for yourself, you’re stalling.
Stop it
I hate stalling. But I do it all the time. It’s time to stop stalling and start fitness.
There comes a point when you really already know what the best decision is…you’re just too lethargic to make it. So you stall.
And if you’re not doing what you need to be doing, you’re just prolonging the inevitable.
Choose. You know what it takes to be healthy. Act now. We don’t need you next week. We need your heart–your commitment, your passion, your dedication—today.
Consider the opportunity cost of stalling. Is it really worth it?
